Parent Coaching for Child Anxiety & OCD: The SPACE Program

You've Rearranged Everything, And The Anxiety Is Still There.

Parent coaching for childhood anxiety and OCD because your child doesn’t have to set foot in a therapist’s office for things to change at home.

You know the routine, you’ve experienced the meltdown before school, the thing(s) you can’t say or do because it might set them off. You love your kid more than anything, but you’re running on fumes, and honestly, a little lost on how to best support them.

SPACE means you don’t have to drag an unwilling kid to a therapist’s office for things to change. You can be the change agent (even when you’re not the problem causer!) right from your living room.

SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) was developed at Yale, and it’s game-changing for families. It’s a parent-only treatment that teaches you how to best support and help your child’s anxiety.

Change Starts With You. And That Is Not Your Fault.

This isn’t about blame. The whole time you’ve been doing what any loving parent would do: trying to keep your kid feeling safe. Anxiety is sophisticated though, and it convinces everyone in your family, including you, that more accommodation equals more safety.

Instead, it’s been gradually shrinking your child’s world a little more each day and your own capacity to keep up with it. SPACE works by changing that equation, one step at a time. Here’s the SPACE framework:

Step 1: Map the Pattern
We help you see exactly where accommodation is showing up, and it’s often in ways you didn’t even realize. Then we pick one small, manageable target to shift.

Step 2: Change the Response
You’ll learn what to say (and what not to say) when anxiety shows up. It’s a script that works and it’s delivered with warmth and compassion from you.

Step 3: Build the Muscle
Like any muscle, you need to practice and build it up. We’re there to support you in sessions, and slowly, your child starts to see that they can handle more than either of you thought.

Step 4: Watch the Shift
As you shift your responses, your child’s symptoms often start to shrink. Sometimes within days. And you get to be the one who made that happen.
