ARFID & Picky Eating Therapy: Break Free from Mealtime Stress

When food feels like a threat, not a comfort.

You’ve heard it all. “They’ll eat when they’re hungry.” “You just need to be firmer.” “It’s a phase.”

But it doesn’t feel like a phase. It feels like every meal is a negotiation and a carefully choreographed routine of the same three foods that somehow still ends in tears or refusal.

Severe picky eating and ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) has nothing to do with stubbornness or bad parenting. It’s driven by sensory sensitivity, lack of interest in food, or fear – often a very real fear of choking, vomiting, or having an allergic reaction.

We work with kids and adults across New York who feel trapped by a limited diet. Our goal isn’t to make you or your child a foodie. It’s to make mealtimes feel less stressful with an approach that doesn’t involve force-feeding or power struggles.
