Jayne Reel, LMSW, PMH-C

Licensed Master Social Worker

Brooklyn Heights • Online

Jayne (she/her) has a warm and encouraging, yet goal-directed style. She helps with a variety of problems, including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), fertility challenges and loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).

As a queer therapist herself, Jayne especially welcomes LGBTQIA+ clients and families, providing an affirming space to explore identity and navigate related challenges.

Anxiety & OCD: Jayne is dedicated to treating anxiety and OCD in kids and adults, utilizing parent-based treatment models, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP remains the most empirically supported psychological treatment for OCD, so it’s essential to work with a therapist who is trained and experienced in this modality. Whether you’re dealing with OCD or anxiety, Jayne will help you build confidence, gain insight into your thought process, and learn lifelong coping skills.

Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders: One in 5 new and expecting mothers/birthing people experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) while pregnant or in the first year after birth. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, panic disorder, or PTSD while pregnant or postpartum, you are not alone and what you’re going through is treatable. Jayne is certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International and dedicated to serving new and expecting parents. She uses an integrative approach that combines behavioral and body-based interventions to provide symptom relief, enhance bonding, and improve mood.

Fertility Issues, Loss, & Trauma: Reproductive challenges, pregnancy loss, having a baby with health problems, and birth trauma can affect every aspect of a person’s life and lead to intense sadness, anxiety, isolation, anger and grief. If you’re facing one or many of these challenges, it’s important to find a therapist who “gets it” and specializes in these areas. With advanced training in reproductive trauma, complicated grief, and clinical experience in the NICU, Jayne is uniquely positioned to help you heal from loss or trauma, process an unexpected challenge or diagnosis, or navigate decisions involved in building a family. Jayne uses a supportive, nonjudgmental approach to help individuals and couples process difficult emotions, develop coping strategies, and feel more like themselves again.

Children & Families: Jayne loves working with children and their families. Her school and medical experience gives her a well-rounded understanding of the stressors affecting children, adolescents, and their parents. When working with children, Jayne utilizes additional modalities such as play therapy, parent training, and exposure therapy. She is warm, friendly, and nonjudgmental - she creates a safe and encouraging environment where children and their families can thrive.
